Siskin

I was walking towards the pond in Ecology Park to see if any more ducks have arrived but I was stopped by a sight of a flock of something in Japanese Alder trees.

WOW!!! Siskins (Mahiwaマヒワ)!!

I had never expected to see Siskins at all because they seem to appear in the lowland areas, such as here in Chiba, only when their food is scarce in the mountains. We didn't see any the previous two winters.

What a lovely bird!
